Session & Transcript Collection
Data was extracted on 6 January 2026 and covers parliamentary sessions from February 1996 to December 2025. Plenary session days (including joint sessions with the Senate) were identified via parliamentary calendars, and stenographic transcripts were systematically retrieved from the parliamentary debate archive.

Speech Extraction
Individual speeches were parsed from transcript pages, extracting text, date, session, and speaker information. Cleaning procedures and plausibility checks were applied throughout the extraction process.

Speaker Matching & Party Affiliation
Speakers were matched to Members of Parliament using profile URLs. Party affiliation and legislative period were reconstructed using parliamentary information pages.

Gender Identification
Gender was inferred from Romanian honorifics used in the transcripts (“Domnul” for male speakers and “Doamna” for female speakers). In 0.13% of statements the speaker’s gender could not be identified.

Documentation & Reproducibility: Full documentation is provided in the reproducible R/Quarto workflow.
