Warum ist die AfD so stark? Die Bundestagswahl hat gezeigt hat: Die AfD ist ein gesamtdeutsches Phänomen. Doch in Ostdeutschland ist sie besonders erfolgreich, wo sie in manchen Wahlkreisen fast 50 % der Stimmen erreichen konnte. Warum wählen Ostdeutsche 35 Jahre nach der Wiedervereinigung so anders als der Westen? Wieso wird die liberale Demokratie ausgerechnet dort in Frage gestellt, wo 1989 die erste erfolgreiche Revolution auf deutschem Boden stattfand?
Am 17. März war der deutsche Historiker Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk zu Gast am Renner Institut, um über die Geschichte Ostdeutschlands seit 1989 und die Gründe für die Erfolge der AfD zu referieren und diskutieren. Radio Ö1 hat zu der Veranstaltung ein Journal-Panorama gestaltet, in der Presse, bei Puls24, den Salzburger Nachrichten und bei der APA sind ebenfalls Beiträge erschienen.
Die Veranstaltung wurde zudem aufgezeichnet.
